Japanese Sushi
Recipes Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Assorted sushi fillings (such as fish, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese)
- Nori seaweed sheets
- Soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger for serving
Instructions:
- Rinse the sushi rice in a strainer under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Combine the rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat over low heat until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
- Transfer the cooked rice to a large bowl and drizzle the vinegar mixture over it. Gently fold the vinegar mixture into the rice until well combined.
- Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
- Arrange your desired sushi fillings in a line along the bottom edge of the rice.
- Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, moistening the top border with water to seal the roll.
- Cut the sushi roll into 8 pieces using a sharp knife.
- Serve the sushi with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
